Committee Chair Work Requirements: Social Media & Communications

Position Overview

As the Social Media & Communications Committee Chair for OCES PTA, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our organization’s online presence and effectively communicating with our members, parents, educators, and the wider community. This position offers the flexibility to work exclusively from home or remotely, making it an ideal opportunity for individuals with a passion for digital communication and community engagement.

Responsibilities

1. Manage Social Media Platforms: Maintain and update OCES PTA’s social media accounts on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and any other relevant channels. This includes posting engaging content, sharing important announcements, and responding to messages and comments in a timely manner.

2. Create Content: Develop creative and compelling content, including graphics, images, videos, and written posts, to effectively communicate OCES PTA’s mission, events, initiatives, and achievements. Collaborate with other committee members, volunteers, and school staff to gather content and stories to share.

3. Engagement & Interaction: Foster a sense of community and engagement among OCES PTA members and the broader community through social media. Encourage interaction, discussions, and feedback from followers to build relationships and increase participation in PTA activities and events.

4. Event Promotion: Use social media platforms to promote upcoming events, fundraisers, meetings, workshops, and other PTA activities. Create event pages, share event details, and encourage attendance through targeted outreach and promotion.

5. Communications Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with OCES PTA’s goals and objectives. Utilize social media analytics and insights to track performance, identify trends, and refine strategies for optimal engagement and reach.

6. Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with other committee chairs, PTA board members, school administrators, and volunteers to coordinate social media efforts and ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.

7. Training & Support: Provide guidance, training, and support to PTA members, volunteers, and school staff on best practices for using social media effectively and responsibly. Encourage participation and empower others to contribute to OCES PTA’s online community.

Qualifications

– Strong written and verbal communication skills
– Proficiency in using social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
– Creative mindset with the ability to develop engaging content
– Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics
– Self-motivated and able to work independently
– Excellent organizational and time management skills
– Commitment to OCES PTA’s mission and values

Time Commitment

The time commitment for this role may vary depending on the scope of activities and events planned by OCES PTA. However, on average, you can expect to dedicate approximately 4 hours per week to fulfill the responsibilities outlined above.
