Dear Oak Creek Elementary PTA Members,
The OCES PTA Executive Board has been working hard to ensure our organization operates with the highest standards of transparency and efficiency. In accordance with our bylaws, notice is hereby given that a vote will be held at our upcoming Membership Meeting on Oct 24th 2025 to adopt the revised 2026 Edition of the Oak Creek Elementary PTA Standing Rules.
Why are the rules changing?
Every few years, we update our Standing Rules to align with Texas PTA requirements and to better reflect how our local unit serves our students and staff. To streamline this process, the board will propose a single motion to adopt the revised rules in their entirety, superseding all previous versions.
Summary of Major Changes
To help you prepare for the vote, here are the key updates included in the 2026 Edition:
- Enhanced Financial Controls: We are establishing a two-signature threshold of $2,500 for checks and codifying a strict “no cash” policy for all PTA transactions.
- Expanded Scholarship Program: We have restructured the OCES PTA Scholarship to include a “blind” selection process and a requirement that checks be paid directly to the student’s college or university.
- New Standing Committees: We are formally establishing the Teacher Appreciation and Healthy Lifestyles committees to ensure these vital programs continue year after year.
- Officer Definitions: We are codifying the specific duties for our Vice Presidents (Membership and Fundraising) to ensure clear accountability.
- Condolence Policy: A formal policy establishing that condolences will be expressed via sympathy cards to remain fiscally responsible.
Proposed Bylaws Amendments
In addition to the Standing Rules, we will be voting on two changes to our Bylaws:
- Dues: Increasing the local portion of annual dues from $3.00 to $4.00.
- VP Roles: Formally redefining the roles of First VP (Membership) and Second VP (Fundraising).
